(1/d0) + (1/di) = 1/f

where d= object distance; d= image distance; f = focal length

 (1/di) = (1/f) - (1/d0) = (1/27) - (1/9) = -2/27

di = 27/2 = -13.5 cm or 13.5 cm on the object side of the lens.
