The dot product of $\mathbf{u}$  a column matrix and $\mathbf{v}$ a column matrix is:

$$
\mathbf{u} \cdot \mathbf{v}=\mathbf{u}^{T} \mathbf{v}=\mathbf{v}^{T} \mathbf{u}
$$

Example:
